St. Claude, New Orleans-October 01: An artistic statement about the death of the lower ninth ward on exhibition October 01, 2005 in St. Claude after Hurricane Katrina struck. The lower 9th Ward, one of the poorest sections of the city, was flooded when the levees failed to hold after Katrina struck. The question of whether the 9th Ward will be rebuilt has touched on sensitive issues of race and class in the city since many of residents were poor and black. The art is made from the contents of Andrea Garland and Jeffrey Holmes' home in St. Claude after it was flooded by three feet of water. (Photo By Radhika Chalasani/Getty Images)
